Storm Petrel:

Lost Boy of the Nineties

‘We all secretly dreamed of being wild and crazy popstars, but some of us dreamed more fiercely than others…’.

If you weren’t in, or at least forming, a band in the 90s, you probably didn’t have a handle on what was cool or important; music was fundamental to anyone coming of age in the last decade of the twentieth century.

But how many of those band stories included sex, drug and rock ‘n’ roll excesses, catastrophic house fires, BBC radio airplay, psychotic breakdowns, all the extremes that life can throw at you?

Drawing on references from the popular music scene of the 90’s and woven with artistic licence, at its heart this novel explores the desire for self-expression through music, relationships between people and the fragile nature of being human…

Funny, tender, poignant and in places ridiculous, this is the tale of one boy’s journey to understand his soul’s battle with personal and social demons. Will he make it to pop glory? Or are his demons chasing him harder and faster than the fame he so desires?  More importantly, might his experience of excess, breakdown and attempt at recovery, claim an altogether greater personal reward?
